Public Works Department (PWD), Barishal started remodeling of the space at microbiology and virology department of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) for installing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing lab.Zahid Faruq Shamim, local lawmaker and state minister for water resource ministry, visiting the spot on Wednesday afternoon asked the PWD authority to end the remodeling of infrastructure as early as possible.
Olivar Guda, executive engineer of PWD , Barishal said they need more 3/4 days to complete the necessary renovation work.Dr. Asit Kumar Das, principal of SBMC, said a technical expert came Barishal and after preparing the room by PWD, he will start installation work of PCR machine.
Exparts of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), will also train our technicians and they will stay here for an week and after that the PCR lab would be started functioning , he added Dr. Zahangir Hossain, chairman microbiology and virology department of SBMC, said we are trying our best with the help of IEDCR tom start the lab, but it will need at least 8/10 days.
