Farzana Nasrin, an assistant professor in the English department at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has filed another case against her husband Masud Rana.
Judge TM Musa of the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal accepted the allegation in Jashore court on Tuesday and set a date of September 29 for the order. Masud Rana and his relative Ziaur Rahman of Pabna's Sathiya Aftab Nagar village and his wife Rani Khatun have been accused in the case.
Teacher Farzana Nasreen alleged in the allegation that the accused Masud Rana was greedy for wealth and dowry. After getting acquainted with her on mobile phone, they got married on February 14 this year.
During the marriage, Masud Rana was given goods worth Tk 5 lakh and gold ornaments worth Tk 2 lakh. Her previous marriage was kept secret during the marriage. On September 18, three people including Masud Rana came tohis father's house at Jashore city.
At one stage of the argument over dowry money, the accused tried to beat Farzana Nasrin to death. Others in the house came forward and rescued him and he was admitted to Jashore General Hospital. On September 14, teacher Farzana Nasreen had filed a dowry case against her husband Masud Rana in the Jashore Judicial Magistrate's Court. The court has issued summons against Masud Rana.
