Pakistan abuses blasphemy on minorities


Bangladesh Christian Association (BCA) leaders, together with other minority platforms, expressed deep concern  as Pakistan  government  are  used to assassinating  and  persecuting Christian and other minority communities by bringing fabricated charges under blasphemy law indiscriminately that contradicts with fundamental rights of the citizens guaranteed in the constitution of Pakistan.

Bangladesh Christian Association leaders on Wednesday expressed their grievances due to some heinous incidents took place in Pakistan in respect of blasphemy law that were published in different international media.

According to media, a session court in Lahore on September 8 ordered three years imprisonment and fined USS$ 300 against a Pakistani Christian named Asif Pervaiz and the day after another Christian David Masih was charged with blasphemy law by taking false charges.Bangladesh Conscious Citizen Committee Convener Professor Dr. Nim Bhoumik said as chief guest that Pakistan got independent in 1947.

Then Pakistan was covered with 12% minority and now that figure reduced only 2%. Pakistan has turned into a country with communal hatred and terrorism in the eyes of the world. In order to regain the lost image, Pakistan had better nullify the blasphemy act with view to peaceful coexistence irrespective of caste, creed and religion.BCA leaders blamed that imprisoned Pervaiz  used to work in a textile factory in Lahore and was brought under police custody in 2013 by bringing  fabricated charges.

The leaders said that they are aware that blasphemy remains an issue in Pakistan in order to harass the minority communities. By abusing the law, hundreds of Pakistani Christians and other minorities are facing awkward situation and finally the government authority allegedly persecuted them under blasphemy law.

Under this law, two important Christian politicians named Shabaz Bhatti and Salman Taseer recently were assassinated. On the other hand,  a Catholic  bishop  also  committed suicide because of frustration and depression by bringing false allegation under blasphemy act in Pakistan.

Bangladesh Christian Association leaders came up with these remarks at demonstration before the Pakistan High Commission to Bangladesh. Later they offered a memorandum  to Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh containing  the allegations of deep grievance for persecuting Pakistani Christians and other minorities by taking false charges under blasphemy law.

The demonstration was addressed, among others, by,  Hindu community leader Nirmal Chatterjee, Bangladesh Buddhist Federation General Secretary Vadanta Sunandapriyo Vikshu, Bangladesh Ahmadia Muslim Jamaat President  Tabsir  Ahmad, James Subrata Hajra, and Theophil Rozario with BCA President Nirmal Rozario in the chair.
