4 bridges without approch roads in Mymensingh

East Narail to Kawalijan Road of Haluakhat upazila has been left with 4 bridges without connecting roads at the same place for 16 years. World Vision built the bridges in the 2004-2005 financial year with funding from USAID. The bridges are adjacent to the fishery of Haluaghat Upazila Parishad Chairman Mahmudul Haque Saem. Although the road up to Fishery was filled with soil, no soil was filled on the approximately 1.5 km road from the north side of Fishery to Dhali's house between Shibdhara Beel and Dhalikuri Beel. There are 4 bridges over 4 fields.

On closer inspection, it is seen that 1 bridge is 63 feet long and the other 3 bridges are 45 feet long. The waterway through these is very narrow. The purpose of building the bridge is being hampered as there are no traces of connecting road with these bridges. As a result, the dream of the locals was not fulfilled. "We have seen these bridges hanging since we were little," said Umar Farooq, a cow herder from Atash Ali village in Kawalijan. There is no soil at the root of these.

This is the season to climb the ladder. And in the rainy season they sink. Faizuddin Shikder, an old man from the same village, said that he could not use those bridges even in rainy season.Alhaj Abdul Latif Akku Munshi of East Narail village said there was no need for 4 bridges here. It would have been better to build a big bridge and connect the road. Upazila project implementation officer said, 'we have to find out why the road was not paved 16 years ago.

Besides, we have to talk about this with the chairman of the upazila council'. Later, when asked by Upazila Chairman Mahmudul Haque Sayem, he replied that he paved some of the portion with his own expense. He urges authorities to complete the road to reduce hassle of thousand locals of surrounding villages. Upazila Executive Officer Rezaul Karim in this regard said, "I will take immediate action after discussing the matter with the upazila chairman."
