Protest rally against closure of Pabna Sugar Mill

A protest rally was held at the premises of Pabna Sugar Mill in Ishwardi on Saturday in protest of the conspiracy to close down six sugar mills including Pabna Sugar Mill. Speakers at the rally said the miscreants had conspired to shut down the sugar mills to embarrass them. They are trying to embarrass the government by shutting down the sugar mills and have been involved in various conspiracies to overthrow the government. They have demanded that if the sugar mills have to be shut down on the pretext of losses, then all the 15 sugar mills in the country have to be shut down at once.

The rally was called by Bangladesh Sugar Mill Workers-Employees and Sugarcane Farmers Federation. Representatives of different classes and professions including local people's representatives, Awami League, Sramik League, Krishka League, Juba League, Chhatra League participated in the rally. Shahjahan Ali Badsha, Central President of the Federation presided over the function. Speakers were Upazila Awami League General Secretary Maklesur Rahman Mintu, Upazila Parishad Acting Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Former Vice Chairman Bashir Ahmed Bakul, Zilla Parishad Member Saiful Alam Babu Mandal, Vice Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakli, Farmer Leader Murad Malitha, Organizing Secretary Zahurul Haque Puno, National Ibrahim Hossain, General Secretary of Sramik League, Dashuria UP Chairman Bakul Sardar, Salimpur Chairman Bablu Malitha, Pabna Sugar Mill Workers Federation President Sajedul Islam Shahin, General Secretary Ashrafuzzaman Ujjal, Akhchasi Federation leader Idris Mandal, former VP Asadur Rahman Biru and Juba League leader . Labor leader Zahidur Rahman Zahid conducted the rally.
