'Illegal establishments in Shibchar to be evicted'

 
Administration has fixed a time limit of 7 days to evict illegal installations on the place of Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology and Hi-Tech Park in Shibchar. The victims agreed when the top officials of the administration and political leaders made the call at a meeting at Keshabpur in Kutubpur, Shibchar on Monday. The meeting was held on the instructions of Chief Whip of the National Assembly Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury. The ICT Ministry has allotted 70.34 acres of land for the construction of Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology and Hi-Tech Park at Keshabpur in Kutubpur of the upazila next to the Padma Bridge Express Highway. From then on, the brokers started setting up illegal houses and garden farms in the area with the help of the victims to get crores of rupees from the government.

Recently, the ICT Ministry proposed to take possession of the land in the Madaripur Deputy Commissioner's Office. As the news spread, the establishment of illegal houses and farms in the area increased.

In this situation, the district administration organized a meeting with the potential victims in the area on Monday. At the meeting, officials and leaders heard from the victims about their various problems. The victims demanded fair compensation for the land, relief from suffering in bill collection and protection from the hands of the middlemen. Within 7 days the victims agreed to remove the illegal installation. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr Rahima Khatun, District Council Chairman Munir Chowdhury, Upazila Chairman A. Latif Mollah, Municipal Mayor Awlad Hossain Khan, Upazila Executive Officer Md  Asaduzzaman, Upazila Awami League President Md. Shajahan Mollah, Land Ruling Officer Pramath Ranjan Ghatak, Assistant Commissioner (Land) M Rakibul Hasan and others.
