Moniruzzaman Monir, known as the lyricist of the song 'Dak Diyachen Dayal Amare' sung by the late renowned vocalist Andrew Kishore, was not the lyricist of this song. The real lyricist was Syed Asaduddaula Shirazi. The Bangladesh Copyright Office has decided on the application of Syed Gulrukh Mahal Shirazi, daughter of the late artist-lyricist.
Copyright Office Registrar of Copyright Zafar Raja Chowdhury confirmed the matter on Thursday. He said that Syed Asaduddaula Shirazi, the lyricist of the song 'Dak Diyachen Dayal Amare', filed an application for copyright registration with his successor (daughter) Syeda Gulrukh Mahal Siraj. In support of this claim, she submitted a book published in 1965, which included the song.
When Moniruzzaman Monir asked the copyright office for an explanation he said, he did not claim to be the lyricist of the song. Out of the total 6 songs in the film, 5 were written by him. But the lyricist of the rest of the song could not be found and only his name was used in the film. Composer Alam Khan also did not speak in favor of Moniruzzaman.
In the movie "Pranasajani", the voice of the late vocalist Andrew Kishore is served. Alam Khan was the composer and music director of the song at that time. But the name of Moniruzzaman Monir is written as the lyricist of this song in different places.Zafar Raja said that if the song is to be purchased or remade from now on, the permission of his successor will be required in the absence of the actual lyricist.
