India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be available for selection for the 4th Test against England which will be played from March 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Bumrah was released from the squad on Saturday after he made a request to the Board of Control for Cricketin India.Bumrah had made the request owing to personal reasons and he will miss the series finale against England. The BCCI also confirmed that there has been no addition made to the squad despite Bumrah's unavailability.
"Jasprit Bumrah made a request to BCCI to be released from India's squad ahead of the fourth Test owing to personal reasons. Accordingly, the fast bowler has been released and he will not be available for selection for the fourth Test," the BCCI said in a statement.
Jasprit Bumrah played his first-ever Test at home in India's defeat to England in the 1st Test in Chennai. The star pacer was rested for the 2nd Test in Chennai but he was brought back for the Pink-ball Test. Bumran bowled just 6 overs with the pink cherry in Ahmedabad as spinners dominated the proceedings, taking 28 of the 30 wickets that fell over 2 days.
Bumrah will have an extended period of rest as he has been rested for the 5-match T20I series against England, starting March 12 in Ahmedabad. It remains to be seen if he will be picked for the 3-match ODI series, which is scheduled to be played in Pune from March 23.
