Covid-19 in Bangladesh

65 new deaths, 1,739 cases


The deaths and infections due to the Covid-19 have slightly dropped again in Bangladesh as the country recorded 65 fatalities and 1,739 new cases in 24 hours.The death toll has now stood at 11,644 while the total infections have surged to 7,63,682, according to the routine daily statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

As many as 19,431 samples were tested at 420 authorized medical laboratories across the country in 24 hours. The recovery count rose to 6,91,162 after another 3,834 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.

The infection rate in the past 24 hours stood at 8.95 percent and overall death rate 1.52 percent.32 out of the 65 died in Dhaka division alone and 42 of them were male while 23 were female and added that one is below 10 years, two are in their 20s, three in their 30s, eight in their 40s,15 in their 50s while 36 are above 60 years.

The indomitable Covid-19 has spread to all 64 districts in Bangladesh. The country reported its first case of the virus on March 8, while the first death was recorded on March 18.The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Covid-19 a pandemic. The outbreak of the virus has brought almost the entire world to a standstill.
