Some 500 poor people in Pirojpur have been distributed food aid as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Saiful Islam Badal, Divisional Commissioner of Barishal division, handed over the relief goods among poor at Pirojpur Government Primary School premises on Monday.
Addressing the relief distribution program, the divisional commissioner said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated a program on May 2 to distribute cash aid Tk 2,500 each among some 37,00,000 poor people across the country." "Everybody will be provided help who are in need of it. Besides the government, the rich community of the society should come forward to help the poor during this crisis moment," he added.
The relief package includes different types of daily necessary commodities including rice, oil, semai, sugar, salt, noodles and hand sanitizer. Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Abu Ali Md Sazzad Hossain, Superintendent of Police Md Hayatul Islam Khan, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Rebeka Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police (General) Chowdhury Rowshon Islam, Pirojpur Press Club Convener Gautam Chowdhury, District Jubo League Secretary Ziaul Ahsan Gazi, Pourashava Ward Councillor Saidullah Liton, Zilla Bebsayi Samity Secretary Golam Mawla Nokib, Zilla Imam Samity President Md Faruk Abdullah, Zilla Puja Parishad General Secretary Gopal Bosu, Government Suhrawardy College former Vice-President Liton Sikder, Ittefaq Bureau Chief Moniruzzaman Nasim Ali, among others, were present on the occasion.
