Vermicelli prepared in unhygienic environment In a factory, vermicelli is being prepared in an unhygienic environment in Joypurhat. -AA

Vermicelli and bakery products are being prepared in an unhealthy and dirty environment in a factory of Joypurhat. The name of the factory is 'Sadia Bakery and Semai'. It is located in Bairagirhat area of Udaipur union in Kalai upazila of the district. The owner name of the factory is Md Sadequl Islam. Locals complained, "The way of vermicelli are preparing for the upcoming Eid environment in the factory is not healthy at all. Dirty toilets near the stove of making bakery products and vermicelli.

Locals also alleged that the artisans make these foods in open hands without gloves. Cockroaches and their droppings often float in the sweet syrup kept in the drum. Mosquitoes and flies are sitting on the food kept in the open environment. Flies buzz in the house.While visiting the factory, it has been found that there was an unclean toilet near the bakery and Vermicelli making stove. Gloves were not in the hands of artisans. Bakery product was making in open hands.

A cat was wandering next to it. The cat tries to feed on different foods. Cockroach droppings float in the sweet syrup kept in the drum. Mosquitoes also fly in these foods. Flies are buzzing in the house.Md Sadequl Islam, owner of the factory, said, "I have applied to the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) for manufacturing vermicelli and bakery items but didn't get approval yet."

Shahidul Islam, Sanitary Inspector of Kalai Upazila Health Complex, said, "I have already inspected the unhygienic condition of the factory. I warned them during my visit. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tuktuk Talukder said, "We will take necessary steps to look into the matter."
