Relief food items have been distributed among poor and distressed people of Nilphamari municipality at Rabeya Biddha Niketon in Nilphamari on Thursday. The program was arranged by Prokriti O Jibon Foundation (Nature and Life Foundation) of Channel i to help the people affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The food package includes rice, pulse, oil and soap. Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury along with the promoted Superintendent of Police ABM Atiqur Rahman was present at the distribution program. A total of 500 families were distributed the relief foodstuffs maintaining health rules and wearing masks. Hafizur Rahman said, "I appreciate the humanitarian work. We are really passing a very hard time. The rich should come forward to help the helpless people of our society." Sultana Begum, a resident of the area, said, "I am highly pleased for getting these daily commodities. My husband is a rickshaw puller. As people are staying at home now, his income has been decreased. So we are passing a very miserable life. May Allah bless the persons who arranged the program." Contacted, Channel i district correspondent Anwarul Alom Prodhan, he said, "Coronavirus has made our life standstill. I think we all should stand by our poor people during this crisis moment. I thanked all concerned for concluding the program successfully." Among others, journalists of different print and electronic media were also present on the occasion.
