3 drug traffickers arrested in capital


Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 3 members of an inter-district drug trafficking ring conducting a drive in New Market area in the capital on Friday night.The arrestees are Md Sabuj Mia, 40, Md Kamruzzaman, 36, and Md Azimul, 38.A private car used for trafficking drugs and 285 bottles of Phensedyl were also seized during the operation.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) of RAB-2 said, on secret information, a team of elite force set up a special check post in front of Balaka Shopping Complex on Mirpur Road under New Market Police Station around 9:30 pm on Friday, UNB reports.

During the primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were smuggling drugs under the guise of transporting passengers in private cars.They also said they had been trafficking drugs from different border areas of the country for a long time. The drugs were handed over to various drug dealers in the capital. Legal action has been taken against them in this regard, said the RAB official.
