Covid-19 in Bangladesh

1,285 new cases, 45 deaths


Bangladesh recorded on Saturday 1,285 new infections and 45 fatalities due to the Covid-19 in 24 hours. "The tally of infections has surged to 7 7,72,127 as 1,285 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours," according to routine daily statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The death toll has stood at 11,878.As many as 14,703 samples were tested at 443 authorized medical laboratories across the country in 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 7,06,833 after another 2,492 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day. The infection rate in the past 24 hours stood at 8.74 percent and overall death rate 1.54 percent. 19 out of the 37 died in Dhaka division alone and 23 of them were male while 14 were female and added that one is in his 30s, five are in their 40s, 11 in their 50s while 20 are above 60 years.

The indomitable Covid-19 has spread to all 64 districts in Bangladesh. The country reported its first case of the virus on March 8, while the first death was recorded on March 18. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Covid-19 a pandemic. The outbreak of the virus has brought almost the entire world to a standstill.
