In the latest act of militant attack in the Afghan capital Kabul, a blast close to a secondary school left at least 60 people dead and dozens more injured. The dead were school girls. What a shame.
Although none has claimed responsibility for the shameful attack, but media reports said it was Shia dominated area of Hazara minority community and has been a target of Sunni Islamic militants. Almost exactly a year ago, a maternity unit at the local hospital was attacked, leaving 24 women, children and babies dead.
This is not the first time or possibly not the last such incident in war-torn Afghanistan, which has been a victim of militant Taleban attacks quite frequently
We had expressed our fears of more violence as the US withdraws all its troops from the country by 11 September this year.
It is the game being played by some external forces both in Afghanistan's neighbourhood and far away for their own political interest. But, at what cost ? How much more blood will be spilled in this once scenic country now soaked with blood and filled with rubbles.
The killings of school girls or innocent people who have no connection with any local or international politics are shameful. This must end once for all.
We pray for the safety of the Afghan people and that the world community will come to its senses to end this bloodletting.
