Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan has urged the Commerce Ministry to ease export procedures for the RMG industry so that the sector could address current challenges and move ahead.
He made the request during a meeting with Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh at the ministry on Wednesday, UNB reports.
BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali and first Vice President of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem also attended the meeting.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said the garment factories were still struggling to survive and recover from the losses and shocks created by the pandemic. Ghosh said the commerce ministry would consider the ways to ease export procedures and take steps accordingly.
Md. Hafizur Rahman, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce, was also present at the meeting.
