There is no denying Bangladesh Police is now a pro-people outfit as the force members have proved their dedication, sincerity and professionalism in crisis times. Their services to people during the coronavirus pandemic deserve praises. Besides, members of Bangladesh Police are also involved in different humanitarian activities. 

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Habibur Rahman, chief of Dhaka range, is such a police officer who has become an inspiration for others through his outstanding performance and devotion to service.

DIG Habibur Rahman took charge of Dhaka Range on May 24, 2019 and has already completed two years by setting an example of pro-people policing through the initiative of monitoring 96 police stations in 13 districts of the range from a control room at Segunbagicha in Dhaka.

DIG Habib has inspired policemen by his dynamic activities as he works day and night without thinking about his life or family.

After the launching of National Emergency Service 999, a confidence was created among people that if there is any problem, one can call police and see immediate action. People now get any emergency service round the clock.

Habibur Rahman was born in 1967 at Chandra Dighalia village in Gopalganj district. After graduating from the Institute of Education and Research at University of Dhaka, he joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) appearing in 17th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.

He has been conferred the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) three times and the President Police Medal (PPM) twice for his courage, honesty, dedication and sincerity. He has received prestigious award 'Bangladesh Police Padak' from the prime minister.
