The government will give registration to IP TV this month, said Information and Broadcast Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.He said this while talking to journalists at his Secretariat office in the capital on Monday. Hasan Mahmud said, "After scrutinizing applications, registration will be given to some IP TV. As per the provision, no IP TV can broadcast news."
"There are many IP TV in the country, which is being run without approval. We have already started registration process and called for application. About 600 applications have already been submitted. Registration will be given upon fulfillment of terms and conditions," he further said.
Replying to a query, Hasan Mahmud said, no IP TV has got registration till now. However, we have taken punitive measure against some IP TV. However, Joy Jatra IP TV of Helana Jahangir has taken a measure like as others, he added. "We do not want to see any negative propaganda by IP TV in future and we hope that all stakeholders should mind it."
