Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit has organized a 'Peace and harmony procession' in protest of ongoing communal attacks in different parts of the country including Pirganj of Rangpur on Tuesday (19 October).
The procession started from the university's Transport yard at around 12:30 pm and ended at the Shaheed Minar premises with a short rally. Around five hundred BCL activist participated in the rally. Addressing the program, deputy international affairs secretary of the recently dissolved committee Ismail Hossain said, 'Communal groups are attacking all over the country.
We want justice for the loss of lives and property in these attacks. We will continue to work for building a non-communal country under the direction of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and under the direction of BCL.'
BCL activist of JU unit Akhtaruzzaman Sohel said, 'In Bangabandhu's non-communal Bangladesh, people of all religions live in religious harmony. Those who hold Bengali identity can never attack in the ceremonies of other religions. They are using religious sentiment to destroy religious harmony.'
