Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sanjeev Kumar Bhatti visited the damaged temples and affected communities in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district on Tuesday. During the visit, he declined to make any comment over the issue. However, he told reporters that he was saddened by such incidents. At that time, the people of the affected Hindu communities raised the issue of barbarism of that day and demanded justice.

They will announce a hunger strike at Ulipur Shaheed Minar on Saturday (October 23). At the time of visit, Upazila Chairman Golam Hossain Montu, Additional Superintendent of Police (Ulipur circle) Al Mahmud Hasan, Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Kabir, Bangladesh Brahman Sangsad Joint Secretary General and District Puja Udjapan Parishad Vice-President Uday Shankar Chakrab-orty, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Committee Ulipur unit President Sou-mendra Prasad Pandey Gaba, General Secretary Narayan Chandra Bar-man, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) Ulipur unit President Partha Sarathi Sarker and General Secretary Shyamol Roy were present. It is mentionable that some eight temples in Ulipur upazila were vandalized and set on fire last Wednesday (October 13) night for desecration the Holy Quran at a puja mandap in Comilla. Five cases have been lodged against about 700 people in this incident. Police have already arrested 27 people.
