Dialogue held in Natore to prevent child marriage

In Natore, a dialogue has been held between the administration, non-governmental organizations and stakeholders on what to do to prevent child marriage.  The speakers discussed various issues related to taking effective measures to stop child marriage by controlling the rate of child marriage which has increased during the corona pandemic. The dialogue was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner office on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Natore Shamim Ahmed attended the dialogue as the chief guest. Organized by the District Policy Forum, the organization's district president Abdur Razzak presided over the function while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ashraful Islam, Deputy Director of the Department of Women's Affairs Farida Yasmin and leaders of various professions addressed the program. Representatives of various professions including teachers, social workers, journalists, government officials and NGO representatives, qazis, imams and priests took part in the dialogue live and on the Zoom online platform. Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed said, "In order to prevent child marriage, marriage registrars of certain areas should keep a book and submit a list of their assistants." Besides, action will be taken against the fake marriage registrars by identifying them, the DC warned.
