"It was love at 1st sight for both Richard and I; everything just felt right and so, after dating for 5 years, we got married! As newlyweds, we were met with the usual questions, 'When are you giving us good news?' But we just wanted to travel the world, work hard on our careers and build a life together. So for the next 4 years, we did just that! And only when we felt ready, we decided to get pregnant.

For 3 years, we tried naturally but nothing…I'd spend days crying. And although Richard didn't express, I knew he was upset too. But all our tests were normal. So finally, my gynecologist suggested the IUI treatment.Initially, we were apprehensive, but when I read IUI success stories, I was convinced! We met our doctor and decided to go for it! But on the day of the result, my doctor shook his head; I was heartbroken! Not being able to get pregnant broke me; I'd constantly think, 'Is it me?' Richard would console me, but I was spiralling. Still, I yanked myself out of it and a month later, pushed myself to go in for the 2nd cycle.

And that time around, I just knew I was carrying my baby! And when we went to the clinic, the doctor gave us the best news, 'Congratulations Rhea, you're going to be a mom!' After trying for over 3.5 years, we were finally pregnant! I was overjoyed; Richard couldn't stop smiling! I loved the whole process, but Richard enjoyed it the most-be it handling my mood swings or pasta cravings at midnight, he happily did everything. He'd take me for walks and on coming back, massage my feet! As our baby grew, our love for each other did too!

And when my water broke, we both panicked! But when we realized we were going to be parents, we embraced and rushed to the hospital-I was taken for a C-section. The next thing I remember is opening my eyes to our baby girl, Rivka; all the injections, the nauseous mornings felt worth it! And since then, our lives revolve around her! All her firsts are vividly etched in my mind-be it the 1st time she laughed or the 1st time she walked! But the moment I'll always hold close is when she said, 'Mama' for the first time! And you know what?
