Zaker Party placed four-point proposals to President Abdul Hamid on Thursday, the 16th day of the ongoing dialogue with political parties over forming an acceptable Election Commission (EC), at Bangabhaban in the capital.
The four-point proposals include the enactment of electoral laws and forming a search committee comprising representatives of registered political parties to give the EC a neutral and acceptable manner. Zaker Party took part in the dialogue with the President with a six-member delegation led by party chairman Mostafa Amir Faisal.
Zaker Party Senior Vice-Chairman Dr Saim Amir Faisal and Zaker Party Mahila Front's Central General Secretary and Chhatri Front Central President, Farah Amir Faisal, participated in the dialogue. Zaker Party Acting Secretary General Shamim Haider, Central Office Secretary Advocate A N M Maniruzzaman, and National Standing Committee Member Advocate Abu Bakar Khan Siddique were in the delegation team.
Zaker Party Chairman Mostafa Amir Faisal said, "The current trend in our country of violence and skirmishes in attempts to seize the vote centers, in which many people lose their lives and get wounded, should be permanently stopped. This trend impugns the election process and obstructs the progress of democracy; and it often ushers in large-scale calamities. So, to prevent voter-suppression and to keep the election above all kinds of dispute, the application of block-chain technology and e-voting should be adopted immediately, facilitating the voters to cast their votes from their homes; otherwise, this deplorable trend of violence, aggression, and killings will keep going on."
