A traditional horse race and prizes given among the winners has been held in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on the occasion of Mujib's centenary and golden jubilee of victory. On this occasion, the organizers organized a competition and prize distribution ceremony on Friday afternoon.
The competition and prizes given program among the winners was organized by Badhagur Friendship Association at a field in Badhagur area of the upazila. Upazila parishad chairman and upazila AL joint secretary Shah Md Borhan Uddin inaugurated the race and prizes given among the winners as the chief. Upazila AL joint secretary and mayor of Nakla municipal Md Hafizur Rahman Liton present as the special guest.
This horse race competition is completed in two stages. Run one step and run the other. 15 to 20 horse riders took part in each competition step by step. Sonia Akhter, who is a sixth class student from Chapai Nawabganj and Manik Mia from Tangail bagged the first and second places respectively. At the end of the horse race competition, the guests was handed different prizes including new fridge, television and smart mobile as prizes among the winners.
Upazila awami JL's joint convener Rezaul Karim Ripon, leaders and activists of AL, JL and its affiliated organizations, prominent personalities of the area, leaders o Nakla Press Club and countless spectators were present. According to the organizers, different seasonal traditional sports including horse racing are organized here every year and will be organized in future also. Such an initiative has been taken to pass on the indigenous culture to the new generation, said the leaders of Badhagur Friendship Association.
