Another cold spell likely hit the country as Dhaka and many other parts across the country on Friday experienced light to moderate showers with thunderstorms under the influence of a trough of westerly low after a cold wave.Rajshahi reported 17 millimeters of rain. In Bogura, the authorities recorded 23mm rainfall in the two hours from 10am. Dinajpur experienced 30.3mm rainfall from 5am to 9am.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the lowest temperature in the past 24 hours was recorded at 11.2 degrees in Tetulia upazila and the highest temperature at 29.3 degrees in Mongla. BMD, in a forecast for the next 24 hours commencing 9 am, said, "Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions."
Light to moderate fog may occur over the country during midnight to morning. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the country.A week ago, the mercury dropped to 6.1 degrees Celsius in Kurigram as a cold wave swept over northern Bangladesh for five days. Due to intense cold, people especially the day laborers immensely suffer as they cannot earn to maintain their families. In Dhaka, people who went out on Friday for urgent reasons suffered a lot.
