30 injured in clash over land dispute in Ashuganj


At least 30 people, including police and journalists, were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria. The clashes started at 11am on Saturday in Charchartala area of the upazila. The injured were taken to District Sadar Hospital along with various local clinics.

 The names of the injured were not immediately known. Clashes continued intermittently until this report was written.According to police and local sources, a dispute was going on with the people of Anu Sarkar's house and Sheyal's house over a land in Charchartala area. Due to this, two groups of people clashed with local weapons on Saturday morning.

At least two to three people were injured when police rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation. Journalist Humayun Kabir was injured while covering the clash. Assistant Superint-endent of Police (Sarail Circle) Anisur Rahman said, "On information, the police reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control."Several people, including police and journalists, were injured in the clashes. The police were trying to bring the situation under control, he added.
