Opposition lawmakers in Parliament on Sunday bitterly criticized the government for its failure in banking, education and other sectors.BNP lawmaker Md Harunur Rashid and Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid came up with the criticism while talking on the proposed 2022-23 budget.Slamming Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, the JP lawmaker claimed that the minister mixed oil and water in such a way that it was impossible to separate them. Firoz said that the financial institutions of the country had gone under the control of looters.
Unrestrained looting is going on in the financial institutions as if there is nobody to watch, he alleged, adding that the Bangladesh Bank and the Banking and Financial Institution Division of the finance ministry kept silent and mum. BNP lawmaker Harunur Rashid said that the proposed budget is heavily dependent on debt.
He said, '40 per cent [allocation] will come from domestic and foreign loans. Of this, 112,000 crore is foreign debt. The budget is again moving towards a budget dependent on foreign debt.'Demanding that the proposal to bring back the money smuggled out abroad to be withdrawn, Harun said that this opportunity could not be given any way.
