A general diary was filed with Islamic University police station on Wednesday night as a leaked audio clip of a conversation between the university's acting registrar and a contractor went viral on social media.
IU acting registrar and former planning director HM Ali Hasan filed the general diary after the audio clip had gone viral on Facebook on Tuesday night.
Islamic University police station officer-in-charge Annur Jayed Bipob said that he received a diary and the police were looking into the matter.
Ali Hasan took money from the contractor as a bribe when he was the acting planning director of the planning and development division of the university, many senior teachers and officials said.
The university authorities should bring him to the book if he was found involved in taking money from the contractor illegally, they added. "The audio clip which has gone viral was super edited", IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan said. The audio clip went viral to tarnish the image of the university, he added.
In the audio conversation, shared from a Facebook account named Sathi Khatun, the registrar asked Moyeen, a contractor of the construction work under IU mega project, to give him money.
The Islamic University Officers' Association in a statement on Wednesday demanded his punishment after proper investigation. They also submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor in this connection.
