Residents risk their lives to cross a damaged bridge, which as constructed across Sonahat Chhhara beel in Bhurungamari upazila.

Several thousands of people from Bangasonahat and Baldia unions of Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram use this bridge several times a day.
Local people said, a pillar of Chowdhury Bazar bridge constructed Sonahat Chhhara beel was broken down due to flood about six years ago. Since then, the residents of the area have been passing through the bridge with risk.

They feared that a fatal accident is waiting to happen any moment. They demanded to the authorities concerned to take swift measures to repair the bridges urgently. Bipul Miah, a resident of the area, said, "My grandfather was seriously in a road accident on the bridge. He is now on the bed."

Selina Akter Jahan, headmistress of Bangabandhu Dimukhi High School at Bangasonahat union, said, "Students cross the bridge with risk every day."
Mairul Islam Liton, chairman of Bangasonahat union parishad, said the bridge has turned very risky now. Users are suffering hugely due to this. The bridge should be repaired immediately. Contacted, Upazila Engineer Harun Or Rashid said, "We have enlisted the bridge to our construction list and sent to the higher authority.""We will be able to start the construction work of a bridge soon", he added.
