With a clarion call to prevent drug menace, village clashes and other crimes, a 'Beat Policing' meeting was held in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila on Friday (September 15, 2023).
In order to reach police services to the doorsteps of the people, Bangladesh Police has launched 'Beat Policing'. A police station can easily provide beat policing service in its locality with its own manpower and resources. Usually, each union is considered as one beat, and in the case of a municipality, one beat consists of three wards; while metropolitan or city corporation areas will have a beat for each ward.
The meeting was held at Molaish village under Shahjadapur union with Sarail police station officer-in-charge Amranul Islam in the chair.
Awami League leaders Advocate Kamruzzaman Ansari, Saifullah Thakur, Lutfur Rahman Mia, Arifur Rahman Bulbul, Sarowar Ahmed Chowdhury, Sanowar Chowdhury, heroic freedom fighter Akkhay Kumar Chowdhury, journalist Mahbub Khan Babul, UP member Ali Raja were present at the gathering, among others.
OC Amranul Islam urged people to assist police in keeping law and order situation under control.
It is mentionable that beat policing has ushered in a new era of modern policing, which is playing an effective role in preventing crimes in society.
Shahjadapur union beat officer Sub Inspector Jashim Uddin and constable Nazmul Akanda organized the meeting.
