Fencers undergo motivational session ahead of Asian Games
 Chief Adviser to Bangladesh Fencing Federation and former Principal Information Officer of Bangladesh government AKM Shameem Chowdhuri had a motivational meeting with Bangladeshi fencers on Monday who are going to contest in the Asian Games in China which kicks off on 23 September.    - AA


Three female fencers from Bangladesh will be contesting in the Asian Games in China this year. The Asian Games are scheduled to be started from 23 September and continue till 8 October 2023. Bangladeshi fencers will leave for China on 20 September.

The three female fencers to compete in the Asian Games are Fatima Mujib, Ruksana Khatun and Farjana Yasmin Nipa. It may be recalled that Fatima Mujib won one gold medal in fencing in the South Asian Games of 2019. Bangladeshi fencers acquired 11 medals from this tournament.

Chief Adviser to Bangladesh Fencing Federation and former Principal Information Officer of Bangladesh government AKM Shameem Chowdhuri met the above fencers in Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the capital's Mirpur 10 on Monday. AKM Shameem Chowdhuri motivated the fencers to perform brilliantly in the Asian Games and advised them to have confidence on themselves.

It may be added that fencing is fast becoming a popular game in Bangladesh by means of the strong efforts by the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Fencing Federation under the leadership of its President Shoeb Chowdhury.
