BGB seizes smuggled goods of over 165 crore taka in October
 
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods of more than 165 crore 15 lakh taka in October 2023. The seized goods include gold, silver, cosmetics, imitation ornaments, sarees, three pieces, blankets, readymade clothes, timber, tea, coal, touchstone sculptures, trucks, buses, microbuses, pickups, private cars, CNG auto rickshaws, easy bikes and motorcycles. 5 pistols, gunpowder, 6 magazines and 17 round bullets were also seized by BGB during October 2023. BGB also seized narcotics in October including yaba tablets, crystal math ice, heroin, phensedyl, foreign wine, local wine, beer, hashish, cigarettes, cocaine, pesticides etcetera.

BGB detained 222 smugglers during October. Moreover, BGB nabbed 71 Bangladeshi citizens, 7 Indian nationals and 160 Myanmar nationals during October on charges of dealing in narcotics and crossing borders illegally. Legal actions have been taken against the detainees.
