Celebs to appeal against cancellation of nominations

Celebs to appeal against cancellation of nominations

Nominations of celebrities, including actress Mahiya Mahi, playback singer Doly Sayontoni and social media influencer Ashraful Alam popularly known as Hero Alam were cancelled on Sunday for different reasons.

They said their nominations were cancelled for signature forgery of people, default loan and not giving signature in the nomination paper.
They informed that they would appeal to the Election Commission against the decision of cancelling the nominations.

Mahiya Mahi submitted nomination for Rajshahi-1 constituency as an independent candidate, and her nomination was cancelled for the allegation of fraud signatures of one per cent people of her constituency.

‘I will appeal against the cancellation of my nomination. I can prove that the signatures of all local people are right,’ Mahi said.
Hero Alam submitted his nomination form under the banner of Bangladesh Congress party for Bogura-4 constituency, but he neither mentioned the party name nor gave his signature in the paper, said Bogura deputy commissioner Md Saiful Islam.

Hero Alam acknowledged his fault and said that he would give an appeal.

Playback singer Doly Sayontoni had submitted nomination paper for Pabna-2 constituency from the Bangladesh Nationalist Movement. Her nomination was cancelled as loan defaulter.

‘I did not know about this. I have some dues in my credit card, which is not a big amount. I have already talked to the bank. I will appeal against the cancellation of my nomination,’ she added.
