Hasan urges mass media to raise voice together against arsonists

Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday urged the country's all mass media to raise voice together against arsonists and brutality of BNP-Jamaat. "All mass media should raise their voice together so that BNP-Jamaat is not dared to carry out such incidents in future," he said. The minister said this while inaugurating online news portal named 'nantvbd.com' at Jatiya Press Club, BSS reports.

AKM Shamim Osman, MP, JPC general secretary Shyamol Dutta, Tanti League president Engineer Showkat Ali, chairman of the board of directors of the portal Anowar Hossain Dipu and director Khadem Md Sanaullha, among others, addressed the programme with editor and publisher of the news portal Sabina Mubashshir in the chair.

Dr Hasan said a vested group has declared war against the country and the miscreants are carrying out arson attacks on public transports and properties and killing people alive. Such activities are nothing but terrorist activities, he said.

The minister said anyone can criticize the responsible persons and any political party can call the people to carry out political programmes. But, BNP has hired addicted youths to execute their so-called anti-government movements, he said adding that the addicted youths and BNP activists are carrying out subversive activities across the country in the name of the waging movement.

He said there are some so-called intellectuals who give lesson to the nation time to time. But, unfortunately now they are missing when miscreants are carrying out arson attacks, he said.

About the US visa sanction on illegal Israeli settlement on occupied Palestine areas, Hasan Mahmud welcomed the decision of the US and hoped that the US will implement their visa sanction policy against the arsonists and the persons who are trying to resist the poll.

About the country's mass media, the information minister said the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina believes in freedom and flourishment of mass media. Country's mass media witnessed massive development in the last 15 years, he said.

Dr Hasan hoped that the new online media would play role in moving the country ahead with the spirit of the Liberation War.

He also urged the mass media to be more cautious while publishing news so that false information cannot roll out.
Shamim Osman said politics means serving people. But instead of serving people BNP-Jamaat is harming people in the name of politics.
