A two-day Zainul Utsab, which Tuesday began at Churulia Mancha on the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University premises in Trishal, Mymensingh, ended on Wednesday.
The fine arts department of the JKKNIU organised the festival marking the 109th anniversary of the birth of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.
The festival featured discussion, live folk art painting sessions, folk fair and cultural shows.
The JKKNIU vice-chancellor Soumitra Sekhar Dey was present as chief guest while treasurer Ataur Rahman was present as special guest at the inaugural ceremony.Registrar of the university Humayun Kabir and fine arts department head Nagarbasi Barman delivered welcome speeches at the inaugural ceremony, which was presided over by fine arts department dean Tapon Kumer Sarker.
The JKKNIU fine arts department students participated in the live folk art painting session while students of the university entertained the audience performing folk songs and dance recitals.The event also featured around 10 stalls displaying folk elements and traditional pithas.
