Chief Justice's modernized courtroom inaugurated

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan inaugurated his newly renovated and modernized ejlash (courtroom) at the Supreme Court on Monday afternoon. Flanked by his colleague judges from both divisions of the Supreme Court, the chief justice raised the curtain from the nameplate. Justice M Enayetur Rahim at the time conducted a munajat, BSS reports.

A special session of a 'ceremonial bench' consisting of judges from both divisions of the Supreme Court was held later at the chief justice's ejlash marking the resumption of the trial process at the courtroom. Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan narrated detailed history of country's court procedure at the session. He said the most modern information technology facilities have been brought here paving the way for holding virtual trials.

Terming the arrangement, the start of a new day, the chief justice said this would give a new life to development of the infrastructure of subordinate courts of Bangladesh. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Supreme Court Bar Association president Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon addressed the session, among others. Former chief justices JR Mudassir Husain, Md Ruhul Amin, Md Tafazzul Islam, Syed Mahbub Hossain and Hasan Foez Siddique were present in the courtroom, marking the session. Newsmen were given a rare opportunity to enter the courtroom with the camera and take pictures and videos of the session.
