A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Hasanul Haq Inu, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), on a four-day fresh remand in a case filed over the death of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during quota protests in the capital’s Lalbagh area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order following a seven-day remand plea of investigation officer Akkas Miah, also a sub-inspector of Lalbagh Police Station, UNB reports.
With this, Hasanul Haq Inu will be on remand for 16 days in connection with three murder cases filed with different police stations.
Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first-year student of Ideal College, was shot dead in Lalbagh's Azimpur government residential area on July 18 during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Later, a murder case was filed at Lalbagh police station following a complaint lodged by Saifullah’s father Kamrul Hasan on August 19 against 52 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A team of DB Police arrested Inu from a house in the capital’s Uttara on August 25.
On August 26, the court granted his seven-day remand in the case of the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud in New Market of the capital.
Later, on September 3, he was granted a 5-day remand in the case of the murder of Sujan, a truck driver of the capital's Mohammadpur area.
