BGB seizes smuggled goods worth over Tk 272 crore 68 lakh in August


Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods of 272 crore 68 lakh 77 thousand taka from different parts of the country in August 2024.
The seized goods include gold, silver, snake venom, cosmetics, imitation ornaments, sarees, three pieces, shawls, blankets, readymade garments, long clothes, timber, tea leaves, sugar, coal, mobile displays, spectacles, Cummins, trucks, pickups, private cars, microbuses, trolleys, boats, CNG auto rickshaws, easy bikes, motorcycles and bicycles.

BGB also seized illegal arms in August 2024 which include pistols, gun-like weapons, mortar shells, one magazine and 18 bullets. Moreover, BGB personnel seized a huge quantity of narcotics in August 2024 from several regions all over Bangladesh which include yaba tablets, crystal meth ice, heroin, phensedyl bottles, foreign liquor, local wine, beer cans, hashish, cigarettes, addictive injections etcetera.

BGB troops also detained 143 smugglers during August 2024 on charges of drug peddling and other crimes. At the same time BGB officers and jawans nabbed 125 Bangladeshi citizens and 22 Indians for crossing borders in unauthorized ways and legal actions have been taken against them.
