Pakistan High Commissioner calls on Fisheries and Livestock Adviser
 
Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maruf had a meeting with Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter at her office in the capital on Wednesday.     -AA
 

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maruf called on the interim government's Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

Farida Akhter greeted the Pakistan High Commissioner and informed him that the interim government is doing a variety of work to bring about comprehensive reforms in the fisheries and livestock sectors.

Farida Akhter and Syed Ahmed Maruf exchanged views on different bilateral issues. Both of them agreed to identify the fields on which Bangladesh and Pakistan can cooperate with each other as far as fisheries and livestock resources are concerned. Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf expressed the opinion that Bangladesh can import highly productive species of cows and buffaloes from Pakistan.

Syed Ahmed Maruf expressed willingness to work with Bangladesh's Fisheries and Livestock Ministry in terms of research and instigating higher growth of safe fish, meat and agricultural products which would be beneficial for Pakistan and Bangladesh both. The Pakistan High Commissioner further said that Pakistan is very much interested in importing jute goods from Bangladesh.

Fisheries and Livestock Ministry's Secretary Sayeed Mahmud Belal Haider, Additional Secretary Md. Abdul Quayum, Additional Secretary ATM Mostafa Kamal and a few senior officials belonging to the Pakistan High Commission were present at the meeting.
