Power situation to be improved by next three weeks

Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. M. Fouzul Kabir Khan on Wednesday hoped that the present electricity situation would be improved by the next three weeks as the government had taken various pragmatic measurers to this end.

Referring to the present load shedding, he said that technical glitches were found at Barapukuria power plant, which is being repaired urgently while Rampal power plant went into operation," he said.

The adviser made the remarks when a delegation of Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh (FERB) led by its Chairman Shamim Jahangir paid a call on him at his ministry's conference room at Bangladesh secretariat in Dhaka, BSS reports.

Giving details, he said the authorities concerned have been communicating with Gautam Adani, an Indian businessman, while appropriate steps are been taken to import gas urgently.

The adviser said the difference of present interim government with the immediate past one is that the present government was not formed through a demy election rather it was an outcome of blood and sacrifice made by so many students and people.

Fouzul Kabir said that he had taken so many initiatives after assuming office in power and energy sectors for the greater national interest.
