Rayhan Abid, BAU Correspondent: Professor Dr. A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan officially took office as the 26th vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University(BAU) on Thursday.
The appointment was signed by Shahinur Islam, deputy secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education.
It is said in the notification, according to the approval of Bangladesh Agricultural University Ordinance, 1961, according to section 12 (1), the professor A. K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan of Animal Breeding and Genetics department of the university was appointed as Vice-Chancellor.
The terms of appointment state that his tenure as Vice Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining. He will get pay and allowances equivalent to his current post. He will enjoy other benefits pertaining to the post as per rules. He will be permanently stationed in the university campus as the chief executive officer of the university. The President and the Chancellor can cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.
Professor Dr. AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan has served as the former dean of Animal Husbandry faculty, convenor of the Dean's Council at BAU, president of the BAU branch of the Agriculturalist Association of Bangladesh, president of Sonali Dal, an organization of teachers who believe in nationalism and religious values of BAU. He was also an elected representative to the teachers' association in various years in the university.
