Farida Akhter said, “The outbreak of rabies is currently under control thanks to vaccines, but still we are under threat from this particular deadly disease due to our topographic features, unrestrained behaviour from vulnerable crowds and wrong perceptions. Pet cats and pet dogs as well as stray canine animals need to be brought under the umbrella of rabies vaccines too.”
Director General of Livestock Division Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Haque presided over the seminar. Professor Poritosh Kumar Biswas, USAID One Health Activity’s Team Lead, Additional Secretary to Fisheries and Livestock Ministry ATM Mostafa Kamal and Health Directorate Additional Director General (Planning and Development) Professor Dr. Sheikh Sydul Haque spoke on the occasion among other dignitaries.
