Why is Hasina's pampered loyalist Shahed Reza still all cheers?

A latest alarming development in the country's sports arena shows that Syed Shahed Reza, one of the most pampered loyalists to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been invited by the Portuguese Olympic Committee to attend an event from 28 October to 1 November 2024 in Cascais, Portugal. Syed Shahed Reza's councillorship with Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) has been meanwhile scrapped. Syed Shahed Reza held a high post in Awami League's International Affairs Committee. He was Sheikh Hasina's younger brother Sheikh Kamal's closest buddy. Syed Shahed Reza often participated in various seminars and discussion programs organized by Awami League (AL) like a full-fledged AL politician. Syed Shahed Reza polluted BOA with all fascist components like corruption, illegal drugs, nepotism, womanizing, injustice, misgovernance, absence of rule of law and so on. However, it is surprising to see that Syed Shahed Reza has been all cheers even after Sheikh Hasina and her vicious and tyrannical party Awami League were overthrown from power on 5 August 2024.

Syed Shahed Reza was Sheikh Hasina's exclusively selected Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait. Syed Shahed Reza is widely known among sports organizers as a head over heels drug addict. Allegedly he remains drunk most part of the day. Even some sports lovers have challenged that Syed Shahed Reza will be diagnosed positive if he is subjected to a proper dope test.

Reportedly Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Army General Waker Uz Zaman is also supposed to attend the above program in Portugal. General Waker Uz Zaman is right now a radiating symbol of hope and trust for people from all walks of life across Bangladesh. But a Lucifer like Syed Shahed Reza has acquired all the diabolical gimmicks to misguide anyone including the Army Chief. Syed Shahed Reza has meanwhile defiled BOA with all sorts of unlawful activities and Bangladesh's sports turf will be plunged into an insurmountable black hole if detrimental organisms like Syed Shahed Reza are not immediately removed from their posts.

Syed Shahed Reza is an enormous barrier to the establishment of good governance and integrity in sports associations and federations in Bangladesh. Suspicions have come up whether agents of the ousted regime want to reinstate fascism in Bangladesh through remaining Awami League stalwarts like Syed Shahed Reza. Such worries and perceptions need to be very rapidly addressed, investigated and fast actions should be executed.
