Danny Boyle’s gripping drama and Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Billionaire starring Dev Patel, Freida Pinto and Anil Kapoor created waves upon its release in 2008. Now, as per reports, the film is all set to get its sequel. A newly launched production company called Bridge7 has acquired the rights to the film sequel and TV adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bridge7, a Los Angeles-based production company, has acquired the film sequel and television rights to Slumdog Millionaire. The newly launched production banner is led by producer Swati Shetty and seasoned CAA agent Grant Kessman. The rights were obtained from UK-based Celador, the company that produced the Academy Award-winning film in collaboration with Film4. The deal was negotiated by Paytre Topp in Los Angeles and Nick Miller from Simon Muirhead Burton in the U.K. Celador International was represented by Jessica Hudson and James Kay from Sheridans in the U.K.
In a statement, Shetty and Kessman expressed their excitement, noting that Slumdog Millionaire is one of those rare stories that linger long after the credits roll. They emphasized the universal appeal of its narrative, which transcends cultural and geographical boundaries, and aligns with their passion for telling stories that merge entertainment with deep human experiences.
