Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Army General Waker Uz Zaman inaugurated the newly constructed academic building of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) at Baipail, Savar yesterday. The event began with a smart contingent of BNCC Army, Navy and Air Wing cadets presenting a Guard of Honor to the Chief of Army Staff General Waker Uz Zaman.
Following the unveiling of the inaugural plaque and the reception of the Guard of Honor, the Army Chief planted a tree sapling on the academy premises. Later on he participated in a special prayer seeking the welfare of the nation and its people.
In his welcome speech, the Army Chief highlighted the significant role of BNCC cadets in ensuring national security, keeping up law and order and contributing to social development. General Waker Uz Zaman paid homage to the BNCC cadets who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War and praised the valiant role of students during the recent Anti-Discriminatory Movement.
The Army Chief said, "Alongside the Armed Forces, BNCC cadets have always played a leading role during times of national crisis. Their contributions will forever be remembered with gratitude." The Army Chief encouraged BNCC members to further engage in patriotic, disciplined and humanitarian activities.
The event was attended by the Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army, the GOC of the 9th Infantry Division and Savar Area Commander, the Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army, the Director General of BNCC Headquarters and some other senior military officers. BNCC cadets, officers and media professionals were also present on the occasion.
