Satkania upazila LGED (Local Government Engineering Department) office has been playing a significant role in the infrastructural development of the region for many years.
Their various activities have contributed remarkably to improving the quality of life for the local population.
The office has prioritized the construction and maintenance of village roads, bridges, and culverts. This has significantly improved the communication network in the area. It has noteworthy contributions to constructing, renovating, and expanding the facilities of government primary and secondary schools in the region. To facilitate agricultural activities, LGED has taken effective measures to enhance drainage and irrigation systems in the area. During natural disasters, the LGED office has stood by the people by swiftly rebuilding damaged infrastructure in affected areas.
Among the ongoing projects, under the "Amphan and Cyclone Damaged Rehabilitation Project," work is in progress on repairing, reconstructing, and maintaining 15 roads.
Additionally, under the "Demand-Based Construction of Newly Nationalized Government Primary Schools (Phase 1)" project, the construction of 12 government primary school buildings and additional classrooms in 22 schools is underway.
The estimated costs of these projects are approximately 47 crore BDT, respectively. The work on these projects is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
These projects aim to enhance connectivity, education, and community facilities in Satkania, contributing to the region's socio-economic growth.
"Despite our numerous achievements, we face certain challenges. Limited funding and a lack of cooperation from local residents sometimes hinder the implementation of development projects", said Sabuj Kumar Dey, chief engineer of Satkania LGED office.
He also remarks, "The activities of the Satkania LGED office are vital for the overall development of the region. With adequate funding and full support from the local community, the area is likely to progress further on the path of development."
