The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to examine the enormous expenditures spent on ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's foreign trips and the false doctorate degrees she allegedly purchased from different foreign universities.
ACC Director General Md. Akter Hossain shared the above information with journalists at ACC Headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday (6 February 2025). Md. Akter Hossain has stated that initial evidences about Sheikh Hasina's false foreign degrees and wastage of mammoth sums of money on foreign tours have been identified.
According to allegations from ACC, overthrown PM Sheikh Hasina spent money from national exchequer during tours to different foreign countries with large number of Awami League leaders, bureaucrats, business tycoons during last 15 years. Sheikh Hasina also joined United Nations General Assembly every year with over 200 travel companions at the cost of the government nearly each time. Biman Bangladesh Airlines faced a great deal of losses due to the excessive load of expenditures incurred by Sheikh Hasina's visits to foreign countries with 150 to 200 dignitaries with her all the time.
Moreover, Sheikh Hasina allegedly bought false doctorate degrees from India, Belgium and some other European countries in unethical ways paying millions of dollars bribes to those foreign universities.
Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Redwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, Tulip Siddiq and some other members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are now facing grim allegations of various sorts of corruption and power abuse.
