BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel has said that those who destroyed people's voting rights will not have any election in this country.
Speaking at a BNP conference in Jamalpur's Sarishabari upazila on Wednesday (Feb 12) evening, he said, "Don't turn leaders into gods. This happened with Sheikh Mujib from 1972 to 1975, and we know the outcome. Sheikh Hasina ruled like a dictator for 15 years but had to flee in the end. If the government had accepted our demand for a fair election, this wouldn't have happened. Those who ran away can vote in India if they want."
He added, "BNP is not weak. We have survived many challenges. People never vote wrong. If there's a fair election, BNP will win easily."
The event was attended by BNP leaders, including Organizing Secretary Md. Shariful Alam and District BNP President Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim.
After six years, this BNP conference announced Azim Uddin Ahmed as the new president and Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim as the general secretary of Sarishabari Upazila BNP.
