Police force can't arrest student coordinators without evidence, orders

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued an order with mandatory guidelines that should be followed when it comes to arrests of student coordinators. A press release to this end signed by Md. Faruq Hossain, Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police dated 09.04.2025 states that the law and order forces should secure prior permission from higher authorities and need to have relevant solid evidence like photographs, descriptions from eye witnesses, video clips, audio clips, mobile call details records and similar strong documents before arresting student coordinators.

Police force cannot arrest student coordinators without complying with the above directives from now on, the press release from DMP headquarters added. The press release was dispatched to different media outlets on behalf of Police Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
