General students of Comilla University (CoU) staged a human chain protesting the expulsion of 37 students from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and demand the resignation of the KUET VC. The demonstration was held in front of the university's administrative building on Wednesday (April 16).
Among the students present at the human chain, Hannan Rahim, a student of the Mathematics Department for the 2017-18 academic year, said, "I strongly condemn the expulsion order issued to the general students of KUET. We all know the barbaric attack on the general students of KUET on February 18. And everyone knows who is attacking them. Still, such biased behavior by the KUET VC is in no way desirable."
He also said, "We, the students of Comilla University, stand by the students of KUET. We demand a proper investigation into the matter and withdraw the expulsion order as soon as possible as well as resignation of the VC."
Abir, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of the English department, said, "We strongly condemn such biased behavior of the VC of KUET. We urge the KUET administration to stop this farce in the name of justice."
Jamal Hossain Raju, a student of the 2020-21 session of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, said, "We hope that the VC will avoid his fascist behavior. We strongly condemn the decision on behalf of the general students of Comilla University."
Incidentally, on the afternoon of February 18, tension arose on the KUET campus over demands to stop student politics. Later, a total of 37 students were temporarily expelled at a syndicate meeting held in the university's meeting room on Monday night (April 14) over the incident.
